The Brazilian telecommunications company is one of three subsidiaries of Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim’s America Movil conglomerate to serve as an official sponsor of the Rio Organizing Committee. The others are wireless and Internet services provider Claro and NET, the largest cable TV provider in Latin America.

Digital/Social Leveraging  

Embratel has an Olympic microsite that highlights the services it is providing to the Games, including enhancement of Rio’s optical fiber system and providing SIM cards to all the athletes and employees of the Rio 2016 committee.

The site features a video from Emmanuel Rego, former Brazilian Olympic beach volleyball gold medalist and part of the Embratel Olympic team demonstrating how the company is helping to make the Olympic experience better for fans and volunteers.

The site also includes profiles and statistics of the 25 Brazilian Olympic and Paralympic athletes Embratel sponsors.

Athlete Partnerships

Embratel has a partnership with 25 Brazilian Olympic and Paralympic athletes, including Arthur Zanetti, who won Brazil’s first gold in medal in gymnastics. The company promotes its athletes through the hashtag #TimeClaroEmbratel.
