Tinder is expanding its presence in the sports and entertainment scene.

The smartphone app for meeting new people has partnered with Tough Mudder’s inaugural Urban Mudder event in New York City on July 25. In advance of the event, Tinder will connect Urban Mudder with local users for five days. The partnership also will include a Tinder-branded obstacle at the event and custom on-site activations.

“Tinder and Urban Mudder both focus on bringing people together,” said Phil Schwarz, head of marketing for Tinder. “We’re excited to see Tinder users come together and challenge themselves by participating in this social, athletic event.”

For the next week, Tinder users in the New York metropolitan area will be able to swipe right to engage with Urban Mudder and receive an exclusive offer of $15 off registration.

“Tough Mudder participants have always been extremely social, and Urban Mudder participants will be given the same teamwork, camaraderie and shared experiences that define all of our brands. Our partnership with Tinder aligns with our commitment to connecting participants in a fun, social and athletic environment. We’re excited to work together to deliver this unique experience to our participants,” said Ben Johnson, director of global communications for Tough Mudder.

The sponsorship includes a Tinder-branded obstacle called The Swipeout, as well as a number of on-site activations for participants and spectators. The company also will contribute to Urban Mudder’s festival-like atmosphere by providing a DJ for the after party.
