The company’s slogan for the Olympic and Paralympic Games again is “Sharing the Passion.” Panasonic has stepped up its digital, advertising and on-site activation program in comparison to prior Games.

Digital/Social Leveraging  

During the Games, Panasonic plans to post content to its dedicated Olympic website, dedicated Olympic Facebook page and other social channels of its on-the-ground activity in Rio. The goal is to focus on behind-the-scenes stories and content that raise awareness of the company’s technological contribution to the games.

Among the features on the website in the run-up to the Games was the Dream “Fita” Project, an aspirational digital campaign asking fans to share their dreams and wishes via a Dream “Fita” Project microsite. (A Fita do Senhor do Bonfim is a Brazilian wish ribbon/bracelet.) The site features videos athletes discussing their dreams and Neymar taking on various sporting challenges outside of soccer.

The Olympic website also features a Find Your Dreams CityCam, which gives users a 360-degree view of Rio. Users who find the five spots throughout Rio where Neymar Jr. is hidden can win a limited edition digital wallpaper download.

On-Site Activation/Presence

Panasonic will operate a corporate pavilion called Stadium of Wonders at Rio’s Sugarloaf Mountain from August 7-21. The site will feature the latest company technology, visual content from Panasonic’s 25-plus-year support of the Olympic Games, and interactive exhibits to experience Olympic competition through the athletes’ eyes.

For the first time since becoming a TOP sponsor in 1988, Panasonic served as Technical Partner of the Olympic Torch Relay. Panasonic will exhibit torches from past Olympic Games present information and video content about the 2016 relay in the Stadium of Wonders.

Panasonic is supplying LED Large-Screen Display Systems to the Live Site, an outdoor entertainment area in Rio de Janeiro.

At the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, Panasonic will implement an education program, "KWN (Kid Witness News)” to foster children’s creativity, communication skills and teamwork through video production.

Promotions

To reach out to their customers in the Middle East, Panasonic launched a campaign called #YallaRio that is sending four individuals to the Games. Fans could use the #YallaRio hashtag to share their passion for the games via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Athlete Partnerships

In addition to Neymar, Panasonic has teamed with Brazilian athletes Maria Elisa Antonelli (beach volleyball), Juliana da Silva (beach volleyball), Felipe França (swimming) and Daniel Dias (Paralympic swimming), as well as gold medal Brazilian volleyball star Mauricio Lima.
