Whistler Blackcomb Recognizes Top Partners In Sixth Annual Partner Marketing Awards

WHISTLER, B.C. – The North Face, Oakley, Labatt, GMC, SAMSUNG and CIBC were awarded top marks at Whistler Blackcomb’s sixth Annual Partner Marketing Awards held on December 6, 2017. Award categories included: Most Innovative Activation, Best Employee Engagement, Best Bang for the Buck, Best Integration of Talent, Best Summer Activation, Best In-Market Promotion, Best Social Activation, Moving the Dial and the grand finale of Best in Class.

The Best in Class award recognizes the partner who has embraced the Whistler Blackcomb partnership across a variety of channels, mediums and activations. CIBC was awarded the top prize this year with their amazing on mountain programming. From installing the world’s first Ski-Thru ATM to their Canada 150th celebrations, CIBC amplified the partnership with Whistler Blackcomb with incessant cutting-edge concepts.

The North Face earned the Most Innovative Activation for the Opening Day hosted by The North Face at Whistler Blackcomb. Whistler Blackcomb and The North Face invited snow lovers of all ages to join in celebrating the return of winter with a number of fun events, activations and contests to help fuel the stoke for the winter season. The North Face activations included the Base Camp Celebration, Opening Day Gondola Campout contest, and Explore, Scan & Win contest.

In addition, The North Face won the Employee Engagement category thanks to the intensive research and development conducted in order to provide Whistler Blackcomb Ski School staff with the optimal uniform. As the official uniform supplier of Whistler Blackcomb, The North Face wanted to ensure that the uniforms were the perfect fit for them, their job and the weather.

Labatt was awarded the Best Bang for Your Buck award for their Kokanee popup snow bar at the bottom of Harmony Chair. Guest could enjoy a glacier fresh Kokanee in an unexpected location while taking in the beautiful vista of Whistler Blackcomb.

Oakley was awarded Best Integration of Talent for the Mini Pipe Challenge hosted in the Blackcomb terrain park. Snowboarders and skiers at the Oakley Mini-Pipe on Blackcomb could jam with Oakley pro ski and snowboard team members. Oakley athletes in attendance included Torstein Horgmo, Sage Kotsenburg, Sean Pettit, Logan Pehota, Rusty Ockenden and more.

The Best Summer Activation was presented to CIBC for their Canada 150th celebrations. CIBC and Canada shared their 150th anniversary this summer. The celebrations kicked-off on Canada Day with performances by The Vancouver Symphony Orchestral Institute and the Squamish Cultural Lil’wat Centre at Whistler in the Roundhouse Lodge. The first 150 guest’s received a free 1-day Whistler Blackcomb sightseeing lift ticket compliments of CIBC. In addition, on Tuesday, August 15th, 30 new Canadians were bestowed with citizenship on the Steeps Grill patio at the Roundhouse Lodge on Whistler Mountain.

The Best In-Market Promotion was captured by GMC for their All Mountain vehicle road tour to the top 5 auto shows in Canada. The GMC Sierra All-Mountain vehicle travelled to each location and garnered hundreds of photos per hour from enthusiastic guests.

Samsung took home the Best Social Activation with their Members Only video campaign. In order to celebrate their Samsung Members community, Samsung offered a trip for 4 lucky friends to visit Whistler Blackcomb for an exclusive vacation. The evening bonfires atop content which in turn received 1.3 million impressions on social media channels.

Moving the Dial is a category to recognize those partners whose efforts drove sales directly to Whistler Blackcomb business units. Labatt captured the title with their exclusive Whistler Blackcomb product, ‘Stanley Park Mountain Brew’.
