Manager, Solutions

Position Description

The ideal candidate will have a relentless work ethic, go-getter mentality, deep attention to detail and strong aspiration to drive success forward as a true team player. They will have relevant work experience in and around sales/marketing and have previous working knowledge of the sponsorship sales cycle. Strong inclination to use rigor & rationale, complemented by a creative capability to establish connection points between brand and property. This individual will support multiple sales projects at once, as well as the overall business solutions team. Manager must remain current on marketing and partnership trends and issues that impact clients and the industry at large. 

Industry Knowledge

  • Ongoing understanding of industry knowledge and marketplace insights 
    • Manage SR category reports 
    • Manage case study creation to support internal needs 
    • Brand and category intel (Category hot buttons, category trends, brand portfolio) 

Planning

  • Understand all aspects and elements of the property (e.g., direction of the property, aspirations and goals of the property, mission, strengths and challenges, audience, existing partners, marketplace intel, competitors, etc.) 
  • Support development of partnership package(s) 
  • Understand all elements of the package and the strategic approach for the marketplace 
  • Understand prospects needs and business category to adjust and customize packaging strategy 
  • Coordinate packaging adjustments with Consulting team to understand valuation/value drivers (e.g., with analyst help to understand how adjustments impacts overall value of the opportunity) 
  • Support development of go-to-market sales strategy and positioning in the marketplace (e.g., property value proposition, market differentiators)

Prospecting / Outreach 

  • Identify the targeting approach and criteria (e.g., identify filters) for each property and coordinate input across project team members
  • Oversee and guide research across segments that enables effective targeting of brand prospects, inside and outside of GroupM/WPP network 
  • Create approach for each contact (e.g., which prospects are top tier prospects or secondary) 
  • Understand prospect objectives, marketing objectives and hook 
  • Oversee tracking of prospect progress and input of information into CRM 
  • Work with sales lead to identify key dates for outreach and tactics to keep conversations moving 
  • Assist sales lead in prospect outreach 
  • Provide sales team with additional intel and research on prospect to use in conversation 
  • Collect feedback from brand conversations and use the feedback to implement into a proposal 
  • Actively participate on sales calls and in-person meetings 

Sales Materials/Proposals 

  • Responsible for the development of sales materials and where applicable, management of Coordinator to drive the initial framework and data collection (based on project the deliverables may vary: e.g., FAQ sheet, two-page word doc, PPT general deck, excel spreadsheet for asset inventory) 
  • Manage and support the ideation and development of customized activation concepts for each prospect based on prospect feedback and/or desk research 
  • Manage relationship with internal ESP creative or external creative to develop materials 
  • Manage and support the development of all customized proposals for each prospect 

Communication / Project / Client Management 

  • Manage project timeline and deliverables and coordinate with team members from multiple departments to ensure deadlines are met 
  • Manage day-to-day communication stream between sales team and consulting/solutions team 
  • Coordinate day to day communication stream between client and business solutions team 
    • Ensure that project team has all necessary information and resources for the sales process 
    • Receive approval on sales strategy (e.g., go-to-market approach, targets, and sales material, activation concepts, asset inclusion, B2B opportunities) 

Qualifications

  • On average, 4+ years of relevant professional experience 
  • Previous relevant brand-related work a plus 
  • Previous sponsorship management and/or sales experience a plus 
  • Self-motivated, self-starter, enthusiastic, team player, resourceful 
  • Solid communication skills – written and verbal 
  • Polished, professional demeanor, projecting confidence and enthusiasm for the business 
  • Experience with CRM/database a plus 
  • Manages project timelines and deliverables, and coordinates with team members from multiple departments to ensure deadlines are met, with ability to work on both individual and team projects 
  • Demonstrates effective working relationships across a diverse team (internal/external) 
  • Demonstrable proficiency with Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint and Outlook 
  • Grow into subject matter expert for one or more key property sectors and/or business categories
