TOP Sponsor - Omega

After limited leveraging of the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, the watchmaker has stepped up its activation efforts, including production of two ad spots and establishing an Omega House hospitality club in Rio.

TV Ad Support

The first of Omega’s TV spots, “Recording Olympic Dreams since 1932,” is a montage of athletes, moments of achievement, Rio scenery and Omega timepieces and equipment set to the hit song “Hall of Fame.”

The second, “Omega at the Olympic Games” offers a series of quick cuts of Olympic action and Omega’s involvement through the years.

Digital/Social Leveraging

Omega’s website, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages all contain videos highlighting the company’s role as timekeeper, some of its sponsored athletes, and short clips with background information about the amount of work that goes into making sure each competitive event is timed as accurately as possible.

Omega also is using the hashtag #RecordingDreams to highlight the fact that timekeeping is not only about the actual result, but also about recording the journey that leads to that point.

On-Site Activation/Presence

The company has opened Omega House in a three-story building on Ipanema Beach to host invited guests, brand ambassadors and VIPs. The exclusive venue is a departure from Omega’s hospitality centers in London and Sochi, which were located in the Olympic Park and also featured a retail operation open to the public.

Promotions

Omega has partnered with local NGO Viva Rio to support a series of what it calls “social actions” to help vulnerable youth and young adults—from building care facilities for young mothers to providing classroom technology for impoverished schools. The company touts the program through the #OmegaVivaRio hashtag on its digital media channels.

As it has done for previous Olympic Games, Omega has created a special-edition Rio 2016 watch featuring the Olympic colors.

Athlete Partnerships

Sergio Garcia (Spain, golf), Michael Phelps (U.S., swimming), Jessica Ennis-Hill (Great Britain, track & field), Chad Le Clos (South Africa, swimming).

Additional Notes

Omega is one of 18 brands owned by The Swatch Group, Ltd. Omega has been involved in 26 Olympic Games since 1932 and joined the TOP Programme to become a Worldwide Olympic Partner in 2002.
