In attempting to build meaningful relationships with national and international partners, senior leadership at Special Olympics discovered that their decentralized sponsorship structure — which gave local, regional and statewide programs authority to strike their own deals — was holding them back.

To solve the problem, and secure new sources of revenue, Special Olympics retained IEG to assess the situation and develop a solution that would:

  • Identify whether potential sponsors were most appropriate for national, state, regional or local deals;
  • Offer a revenue-sharing model that accounted for the needs of the national organization, as well as those of the state and local offices;
  • Achieve consistency in branding, pricing and benefits across all sponsorship packages at every level.

We developed a global master plan for Special Olympics that the organization was able to implement quickly and seamlessly. This enabled Special Olympics to for the first time attract major national sponsors through top- tier national packages, and boosted local and regional revenue to new heights.
