Before working with IEG, The Self Storage Association (SSA) — a trade group for owners/operators of self-storage facilities —, generated approximately $72,000 in annual sponsorship income by selling presence at conferences and trade shows as well as ads in its monthly magazine. But the organization’s new president had a hunch that they were leaving a great deal of revenue on the table by not offering partners a more comprehensive opportunity to become involved with SSA.

Working with the organization’s leadership, IEG reviewed all of SSA’s marketable assets, including its conferences and publications, and bundled the benefits associated with them into three distinct sponsorship tiers: Six Partner packages priced at $80,000 each, six Patron packages priced at $40,000 each, and conference and trade show-only packages at approximately $20,000 each.

Valuable benefits like category exclusivity, preferred vendor status, and a feature article in the magazine were offered for the first time and reserved for top- level sponsors, giving potential partners a strong incentive to enter at the highest level commitment.

Since adopting IEG's strategy, SSA's sponsorship revenue increased by more than tenfold from $72,000 to $800,000 in just seven months. And, SSA is projecting their sponsorship revenue will reach $1.7 million by September 2008.
